MarineFifty Announces £10m Investment in HiiROC to Accelerate Zero-Emission Marine Fuels

HULL (UK) & SINGAPORE — Monday 22nd December 2025 — MarineFifty today announces a £10 million investment into HiiROC. HiiROC’s proprietary Thermal Plasma Electrolysis technology converts biomethane, flare gas, or natural gas into clean hydrogen and solid carbon. This innovative process, recognised under the UK’s Low Carbon Hydrogen Standard, requires only one fifth of the electricity required for water electrolysis and produces no carbon dioxide.

MarineFifty’s investment will support HiiROC in developing clean marine fuels through the commercialisation of its technology, specifically targeting the methanol and ammonia sectors. This partnership aims to unlock new pathways for synthetic fuels, such as Sustainable Aviation Fuel(SAF), and efficient energy transfer through ammonia. HiiROC has strong growth potential across the hydrogen economy, from industrial decarbonisation to energy management and synthetic fuels.

It also serves as a cornerstone for broader collaboration within the Fifty Group of companies, a network advancing sustainability through innovation, investment, and action. Together, the group spans sectors including aviation, shipping, clean fuels, and structured finance to accelerate the transition to a sustainable global economy. As an example of these group synergies, HiiROC will use a portion of this investment to partner with and invest in Catalsys, a portfolio company of SkiesFifty, to support technology that converts ammonia to power. This integrated approach builds on along-standing relationship; HiiROC continues to work closely with the team at XeleratedFifty, who provided vital support during the company’s early development phase.

Krishnan Narayanan, Chairman ofMarineFifty, commented: “We are focused on accelerating the decarbonisation of shipping, heavy industry, and the energy value chain. We see HiiROC, with leading technology in hydrogen production, as extremely well positioned to make a significant impact in this area.”

Tim Davies, Chief Executive Officer of HiiROC, added: “We are very excited to have MarineFifty’s endorsement and see huge potential in working together to transform the emissions of the maritime sector.”
